Women in Economics

For the 2023 Conference, the LOC aims to provide opportunities for women in economics to professionally connect and get feedback on their work, focusing on issues related to the Agriculture-Environment-Gender nexus.

On Wednesday 8th February, a side event during the conference lunchbreak will facilitate Women Economists to connect with each other and also provide a platform for early career academics to seek mentorship and guidance.

On Thursday 9th February, a Mini-Symposium entitled 'Does Research on Women's Empowerment Indices (WEIs) Strenthen Agricutural Policies in the Global South?' has been arranged to connect all researchers focusing on gender.  This session discusses the uses and impacts of three different empowerment indexes: The Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI), the Women's Empowerment in Livestock Index (WELI) and the Women's Empowerment in Migration Index (WEMI) across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.  The presentations will be followed by an interdisciplinary panel, where academics and practitioners will engage in a discussion concering future interventions for gender-transformative policy changes.

On Friday 10th February, a contributed paper session is planned, comprising submitted papers that focus on gender and diversity.
