Membership

In order to join you must first create an account, or to renew membership you must sign in. If you've been a member previously but let your membership lapse, sign in with your last known details. If you don't remember, click on Forgot my Password or Forgot my Username and it will be emailed to the address on file. Use the PDF registration form if you don't wish to submit your details electronically. If you have difficulty logging in, please don't just create a new account. This is not at all helpful. It means your history is not carried over and it makes the job much more difficult for us. Please email us and we can reset your username or password.

As AARES has ceased as an Incorporated Association and is now a Limited Company, all current/renewing members must sign this form, requesting membership of the new entity. Please download the form and either print it out and sign it, or you can download it and fill and sign it electronically, assuming you have the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.  As a general rule you can't sign PDFs electronically directly within your web browser, so it is better to download it and open it in Acrobat or your PDF editor of choice. Please email or post the form to AARES Central Office, PO Box 1371, Mitcham North Vic 3132.

New members agree to be bound by the terms of the Constitution of Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society Limited and supply to the board such information as it may reasonably be required to assess this application for membership.

If you have any concerns or require further information, please email Central Office.

Logging on to the system has its difficulties. Some usernames are a name or number, some usernames are your email address. A lot of members have duplicate entries and if you try too many times your account will automatically be locked. So, if clicking on forgot my username or forgot my password doesn't bring joy, please contact the Central Office and we can reset your account or change your username or password. If you have difficulty logging in, please don't just create a new account. This is not at all helpful. It means your history is not carried over and it makes the job much more difficult for us. Please email us and we can reset your username or password.

Benefits of Membership

Benefits of membership include:

  1. Access to the highly regarded Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AJARE), a leading international scientific journal which is a forum for innovative and scholarly research in agricultural and resource economics, with four issues a year;

  2. Access to prizes to encourage excellence in Journal articles, post-graduate theses, undergraduate studies, and conference presentations in Australia, New Zealand and the United States;

  3. Receipt of AARES News and Views, the Society's newsletter, three times a year which contains information about future events, calls for awards, topical articles about developments in AARES, etc.

  4. Discounted registration to the Society's annual conference with associated workshops in February of each year.  The program typically consists of keynote addresses by distinguished speakers, paper sessions, research reviews of current trends and issues, and alternative format sessions.  The Conference represents an outstanding opportunity for delegates to network, share ideas and hear from some of the foremost experts in the field.

Joining AARES

Individual members receive copies of the Society's journal AJARE along with the Newsletter, and are eligible for discounted registrations to AARES conferences and AARES symposia. Members can elect to receive either electronic or printed copy of the Journal through the new membership process. A price differential, offering lower subscription rates to members who elect to take the electronic copy of the Journal only, will apply.

Memberships run from January to December, however, you can renew anytime from 1 October, which will cover you to the end of the following year, effectively giving up to 15 months membership. If you have any questions about the above, please contact the Central Office.
