Joining AARES

Membership of the Society is open to all persons and organisations interested in agricultural, resource, and environmental economics. Membership categories include regular individual membership, as well as student and emeritus concessions.

All memberships are based on the calendar year and run from 1 January until 31 December.

Individual Membership

Membership to AARES is open to all individuals with an interest in the areas of agricultural and resource economics.  Our current membership includes people from academia, government, business/consulting groups, as well as industry and producer groups.

All memberships are for the calendar year (January to December).

Benefits of Membership

All member benefits include:

  1. Electronic access to the highly regarded Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AJARE), a leading international scientific journal which is a forum for innovative and scholarly research in agricultural and resource economics, with four issues a year.  Members can also elect to receive a printed copy of the Journal for an additional cost;   
  2. Access to prizes to encourage excellence in Journal articles, post-graduate theses, undergraduate studies, and conference presentations in Australia, New Zealand and the United States;
  3. Access to the Society's electronic newsletter, AARES News and Views newsletter three times a year which contains information about future events, calls for awards, topical articles about developments in AARES, etc. 
  4. Discounted registration to the AARES annual conference with associated workshops in February of each year.  The program typically consists of keynote addresses by distinguished speakers, paper sessions, research reviews of current trends and issues, and alternative format sessions.  The Conference represents an outstanding opportunity for delegates to network, share ideas and hear from some of the foremost experts in the field.

* To qualify for Emeritus Membership, it is necessary to be +60 years of age, not in full employment and to have been a member of AARES for at least 10 years.  Members wishing to qualify for Emeritus Membership must first contact the AARES Central Office.
