Childcare at AARES Conference 2019

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre offers a childcare room for people at the conference. More information will be available soon.

Key dates

The last day to upload a full manuscript for a selected paper is 17 September 2018.
The last day for contributed paper and poster submissions is 22 October 2018.

Online registrations are open from November 2018.
Authors to be advised of the success of their paper submission in the first week of December 2018.
All presenting authors must be registered for the conference by 10 January 2019 or their paper will be removed from the program.
Closing date for early bird registration is 15 January 2019.

Terms and Conditions

Registrants will be able to elect to pay the Early Bird fee up until close of business on 15 January 2019. All registrations made after that date will be charged the standard registration fee. Conference registrations will not be confirmed until the online form and the correct payment is received and processed.

Registrants should obtain confirmation of their registration before committing to travel arrangements. Please check the settings on your spam filter as AARES cannot be held responsible for your failure to receive your confirmation email.

Please note

  • Capacity of the conference venue is limited and registrations will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Conference registrations cannot be shared.
  • Registration fees are calculated for full days; individual conference sessions cannot be purchased separately (except in the case of package deals).
  • Registered delegates will receive a name badge, and additional registration materials when they confirm their attendance at the venue in Brisbane. They will then have access to all of the conference sessions, including the Welcome Reception on Tuesday night. Tickets for social functions are not included in the registration fee, but can be purchased separately using the registration form.

    Guest Registration

    Attendees are encouraged to bring spouses, friends, and family to the Conference. All such attendees must register as guests in order to participate in meeting activities. Guests include any interested party not professionally in the field of agricultural or resource economics, or a related discipline. Registered guests will receive a name badge.

    On-site Ticket Purchases

    A limited number of tickets for social events may be available at the conference registration desk in Adelaide. As these tickets will only be available on the condition that places at the event are available, we strongly suggest that you purchase your tickets in advance when you register for the conference. We cannot guarantee the availability of any social event tickets on-site.


    The preferred method of payment is online through this website using MasterCard or Visa Card. All cheques must be in Australian dollars, made payable to AARES, and mailed to:

    Refund Cancellation Policy

    Cancellation of a registration must be notified in writing to the AARES Conference Office  prior to 15 January 2019 to be entitled to a full refund. Registrations cancelled after 15 January 2019 and before 1 February 2019 will be entitled to a 80% refund. Registrations cancelled on or after 1 February 2019 will not be refunded. Substitutions may be made at any time.

    All refunds will be made within a two month period after the Conference.

    The personal information that we collect when you use our website

    You can be certain that the information we receive about you will be treated as strictly confidential.

    We do not collect or use any personal information on visitors to our website through the use of "cookies" or other software or hardware techniques.

    The circumstances under which we disclose information about you

    It is our policy not to sell or pass on any personal information that you may have provided to us unless we have your express consent to do so. An exception to this is where AARES may be required by law to disclose certain information.

    List of conference delegates

    A list of AARES conference delegates and their contact information is made available to all conference delegates. This information is only available for delegates that have given permission upon registration for the conference.

    Collecting and Using User Information

    Our site uses forms for conference delegates to register and pay to attend the annual conference. We collect users’ contact information (e.g., name and e-mail address) and financial information (e.g., account or credit card numbers). This information is used to communicate information about the conference and bill the user for registration, only.


    Our site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control, but we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.

    Requirement for an Australian Visa

    All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements). 

    Passport holders not eligible for an online visa will need to lodge a paper-based visa application at least six weeks before the intended departure.

    Mr David Cundy at the AARES Central Office is able to issue Letters of Invitation to overseas delegates who have paid for their registration in full in order to assist in their application for a visa.

    Liability / Insurance Statement

    In the event of industrial disruptions or natural disasters, Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES), the Local Organising Committee, or any professional conference organiser engaged by the Society, cannot accept responsibility for any financial or other losses incurred by the delegates. AARES, the Local Organising Committee or any professional conference organiser engaged by the Society take no responsibility for injury or damage to persons or property occurring during the Conference. All insurance, including medical cover, or expenses incurred in the event of the cancellation of the Conference are the individual delegate’s responsibility. Attendees are encouraged to choose a travel insurance policy that includes loss of fees/deposits through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through the cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. The conference organisers will take no responsibility for any participant failing to insure against these potential losses.
